Hi, I am Debra from Perth. I am a Wife, Mother and now a brand new Grandmother.
I am passionate about women loving their lives and finding joy. I believe in kindness.
Seems there is a wonderful community of (mostly) women bloggers changing the world for the better. I want to be part of that too.
I love books and stories that empower, feeling healthy, beautiful food, travelling the world, inviting homes and I especially love babies.
I married my One True Love at 19 and we have been together ever since. I met him through my high school friend and decided he was going to be mine. We went on 4 dates and then he proposed.
My children have all grown up and moved into homes of their own, so I fill my home up with other people’s kids. I am a Homestay Mum to young women who come to Perth to study. In fact, I am their biggest cheer leader! I say “you’re a genius” and “you’ve got this” a lot.
The three young women we have had staying with us this year have included Ziye from China (who is still with us), Maria from Italy and Iris from China. What beautiful energy they have each added to our home.
My background is in small business and networking, and I love dreaming up ideas, sharing stories and connecting with people all over the world. The internet opens a door to a whole new world of communication and connection and I love that.
We have had abundant travel this year with a speaking engagement in New Zealand, a Baltic Cruise, a visit to Amsterdam and then Hawaii.
We entered the world of “Grandparentdom” with the birth of Xavier William and were asked what we wanted to be called. Jeff’s answer was immediate. He is Grandad. For me, this posed a dilemma. The baby would already have a Gran, a Nan and a Nana. I didn’t want to be one of those hipster grandparents with a weird name (google grandparent names and you’ll see what I mean), but I also didn’t want to seem……..ok OLD. I know, how vain. After much family discussion, we decided on DeeDee. A take on my first initial and easy for a baby to say but still with a tinge of coolness.
I hope the posts I write will be a source of inspiration and uplift you. Our thinking and our attitude are the keys to our own happiness.
I firmly believe that we get what we expect in life.
Enough about me though, what about you?
